Sexy Hearing Aid: Flutter

This is what happens when robotics is married to textiles – we get unbelievably sexy hearing aids! Flutter is a garment that helps people with hearing problems to 'FEEL' the sound around them. Yes, FEEL and not HEAR.

This dress is made of polyester and cotton and has a complex network of vibrating leaflets on the front and microphones at the back, I mean inside. These two – the leaflets and the microphones – are responsible for detecting the sound direction.

The leaflets that are closest to the sound will start fluttering in the direction of the sound and hence, the person wearing this Flutter will get sensation that is alternative to sound and understand the surroundings better.
