Extendable: The Compact Life Saver

How necessary do you think lifeboats are on a ship? Extremely necessary! Every ship has a number of lifeboats hanged from the side but they are limited! For a big ship, as big as Titanic or even bigger, a few lifeboats are not helpful! This problem is now solved by Haimo Bao by a very realistic design. The design has high chances of going into production with a few engineering tweaks.

The Extendable is a new lifeboat concept by Bao. The idea here is that an inflatable boat will remain handy and can be stored conveniently on the deck and that too in large numbers. Thousands of these can be stored easily giving a huge life support backup arsenal to the ship.

This design is an entry of iF Design Talents of 2012.
