Glacier Laser Scan With Nevero

Now here is some hi-tech stuff designed for expedition crews and scientists. The Nevero is a 3D measurement tool that is based on laser technology and is designed specifically for mapping and surveying glaciers. It is one truly state of the art instrument design meant for providing precise measurement of climatic indicators that are extremely fragile in such icy conditions.

Its comfortable and lightweight design allows anyone to simply carry it for miles without tiring. Divided into two distinct parts, this device consists of the laser scanner as one part and a hard-shell, carbon-fiber based carrying bag as the second part. The bag comes with side pockets to allow additional storage rooms.

A tripod stand is integrated within the laser scanner with two easy access buttons for each leg allowing the user to instantly pop out the legs and raise the scanner to a height of 110 centimeters. A small correction is needed here. When I said that the tripod is integrated, it means that it is a part of the scanner and hence, when the tripod is actually used, it actually lifts the head of the scanner and not the whole scanner itself.

The laser head of the scanners gets glass protection for 360° scanning and there is a carbon-fiber shield present for protecting the glass from any kind of damage caused by the extreme weather condition. The carbon-fiber ring is designed to slide down to cover the glass when the scanner is in use.

The device also accommodates an adjustment display. The display is also protected but this time the protector is its own pull out keyboard that is designed for keying in the necessary change entries. The entire adjustment panel is located at the back of the scanner. Just below the adjustment panel is a safety link clutch that ensures that the whole device is securely connected to the carrying bag during transit. There are two release buttons on the link clutch that need to be pressed for releasing the device from the bag.

It is a damn interesting design that comes with very promising features. Hopefully, this device actually comes into existence.
