Moving Platforms – Trains That Never Stop
Moving Platforms is a new concept of a rail system that is interconnected completely. This inspiration comes from the internet infrastructure. This is a weird concept where local trams will be connecting to high-speed non-stop trains so that passengers can travel from one local stop to another local address or may be to a different country all together and they will never need to get off the train! I can see your worried faces. Don't! Read on!
In this new concept Moving Platforms, there will be high-speed trains that will be running from one end of a continent to another end non-stop. The rail lines will be running outside the cities and towns. The local trams network will take people from local stops and move towards those rail lines outside the cities. As the local trams approach the trains, the trains will slow down slightly and the trams will gain speed slightly and then through a docking station, they will connect to each other.
When the docking systems connect, the passengers from a train can get into a tram or passengers from a tram can get into a train. Once the transfer is complete, the tram and the train will detach and the train will gain speed and move on and the tram will lower its speed and move back into the city. This way, the trams become the moving platform for the trains which actually run on tracks without any real fixed platform. Why shall there be any fixed platforms when trains are actually never meant to stop! They move forever.
Here I have a question! What powers the trains? Coal? Impossible! Electricity? Do you even know what amount of coal is burned every day to provide us the necessary electricity? My best guess here is nuclear energy. I also guess that since these trains never stop, they will not have drivers as they will always run on a fixed route. What happens in case of a technical default and what happens in case natural calamities?
