SecO Dryer: Art Of Green Drying

Designer: Jack McCulloch

Drying clothes in rainy days can be a big trouble. On top of that all air driers and tumble dryers have their own drawbacks. Because of this Jack McCulloch has come up with the innovative design of SecO Dryer.

This appliance is intuitive and comes with a small form factor that is easy to use and store. When in use, the appliance will not become greater than coat rack. At the base are the ceramic heaters capable of radiating long wave infrared rays with directional wavelengths. This will make the water molecules in the clothes oscillate resulting in quick evaporation so that the clothes become dry in less than a minute. When the appliance is not in use, it can be folded and stored under the bed or anywhere suitable.

At the base of the unit is a silent fan that operates with low power and draws moist air through the long aluminum tube and through dehumidification container fixed at the base of the appliance. The container contains beads of desiccant silica which are responsible for dehumidifying the air. The beads are color changing and self-indicating. When the beads become gradually saturated, they start changing color signifying that they need recharging. Beads can simply be placed in a microwave for recharging.

The SecO dryer is even smarter than that we learned till now. The overall drying process is effectively communicated to the users pretty intuitively. The appliance comes with panels which are backlit by frosted LED. When turned on, the appliance will sense the level of humidity in the surrounding area. When the clothes start drying, the humidity drops. As humidity drops the LED backlight gradually becomes dim. This indicates that the clothes are drying and user never needs to touch the clothes to find out the status.

The ceramic heaters here operate at very low watt and other components running on electricity also consume very low power. The overall price you need to pay every hour for using this appliance is 5p. You can run it for 4 hours to dry 6 kg of washed clothes and pay only 20p! This is incredibly cheap and on top of that, the device is free of any kind of carbon emission, making it the greenest dryer known today. Best thing, it will not leave any drying line or wrinkles as found in case of some mechanical and tumble dryers. This means that SecO will not only help you save money and stay green but also help you to keep your clothes undamaged for a long time.
